Yankees acquired catcher Jose Molina from the Angels for RHP Jeff Kennard. The Yankees pick up little on offense here, but Molina is quite an improvement over Wil Nieves on defense and far better insurance in case Jorge Posada gets hurt. The 32-year-old, who is in the final season of a two-year contract, was hitting .224/.242/.288 for the Angels. He'll probably catch once a week for the Yankees. Jeff Mathis will take over as Mike Napoli's backup on the Angels. The Angels clearly wanted Molina gone. Kennard, who turns 26 next week, had a 2.73 ERA and a 47/17 K/BB ratio in 52 2/3 innings for Double-A Trenton. The Yankees had at least a half dozen better pure relief prospects, plus a few more guys likely to make the switch from the rotation to the pen.
Winner of the deal: Angels
Reason: Molina was nothing special, he had a down year and now he goes to a tougher market to play in.

Giants at Brewers game report 7-21
In a game featuring Tim Lincecum and Dave Bush all the hype was on Barry Bonds trying to tie Henry Aaron for the home run record. Barry Bonds went 0-2 with 2 walks. The winning pitcher was Tim Lincecum who threw 8 shoutout innings and struck out 8 batters. Only 1 team hit a home run and that was Pedro Feliz a 2 run shot of Dave Bush. The game was 3-0 going into the 9th inning with the Giants winning. Chris Spurling came in and he got Bengie Mollina for the first out. Than things took a slide. Feliz singled, Vizquel walked, Lincecum walked, Roberts singled, Winn singled, Turnbow comes in with the bases loaded and gives up a 3 run double.
